We have been great admirers of Cath and Kirsten at Prints Charming since first seeing their fabrics. We fell in love with their bright and bold designs that really make a statement. We have been selling their handprinted fabrics in the store for some time and thay have been wonderful fo so many projects - quilts, bags, pillows and clothing.
We were delighted, but not surprised, that their designs drew the attention of Free Spirit, a major patchwork company in the USA who release designs from several innovative designers. It is great to see their success on the international stage and we were able to be in Houston Texas at the huge Quilt Market to witness the release of their first commercial range Follow Your Imagination ( see the new ranges page) . The range sold out - what an achievement! We look forward to more ranges from them in the future.
We knew the techniques Cath and Kirsten use for designing and screenprinting their fabrics. So we organised a class of 15 enthusiastic students and Cath and Kirsten came down to Canberra and gave a two day workshop that inspired, entertained and educated all the attendees. After a fascinating talk on how the girls got started and
how they have developed Prints Charming and designed their fabrics, we got down and dirty learning the techniques, screen printing and even printing the students own designs onto fat quarters.
