Special One Off Workshop with Maria Martin from The Pattern Drafter
Especially for Dressmakers
Sunday 29 August, Maria Martin will be holding a one day workshop to demonstrate how easily you can achieve perfect dressmaking pattern results using the Pattern Drafter. Places are strictly limited.
The Pattern Drafter is an all-in-one ruler that can be used to create basic block patterns for dress, skirts, tops, jackets, sleeves and pants in any measurement. With the addition of the easy-to-follow instruction book, designers of any age and skill level, including fashion students, can create clothing patterns with ease, accuracy and simplicity.
Suitable for sizes 8 to 30 Australian. You will leave the session with a toile you have made under Maria’s guidance, that will fit you perfectly.
So if you have been frustrated with the results you have achieved in the past this is the session for you. Cost $150 A free promotional session will be held in store on Saturday 28 August.
Tuesday 20 July 2010 - Beginners Patchwork with Wendy Saclier - Wendy’s 20+ years of experience are evident as she takes her beginners class through all the basic steps of quilt design and construction. Yes you can finish your lap quilt in this series of workshops -if you want to. Day sessions held 10am to 12.30pm, evening sessions 6pm to 8.30pm. Wendy’s workshops continue to be very popular. 8 weeks for $165.
Friday and Saturday 23 & 24 July Free Machine Quilting with Deb Louie – Sessions 1 & 2. Learn from an expert. Deb writes in popular Australian quilting magazines. She tutors in a variety to free machine quilting techniques, from the basics of how to set up your quilt, how to stop and start to a wide variety of traditional patterns you can learn to incorporate in your quilting. This intensive two day workshop will have you machine quilting in no time. Cost$200
International tutor Sue Spargo will return 16 August for a one day workshop on hand stitching and embellishment and make your own needle roll. This talented tutor works with an exciting colour palette and folk art designs to produce her wonderful work. $160 Very limited places.
Friday 10 & Saturday 11 September Sue Daley from Patchwork with Busy Fingers – Sue will be releasing a new quilt that she has designed just for this road trip. We haven’t seen the quilt yet but it promises to be wonderful. Learn from the expert with Sue teaching her English Paper Piecing Techniques that she has now developed into an international business. Sunday 12 September and 10 October Celtic Quilt with Kerry Gavin – Kerry’s wonderful quilt has been a constant favourite. Conducted over two sessions you will be given enough patterns to make up your own combination of this stunning traditional quilt. Cost $120
Saturday and Sunday 18 & 19 September - Images in Appliqué with Jenny Bowker - Canberra has so many award winning quilters. Another very accomplished tutor Jenny will be hosting her Images workshop to show you how to create your unique own quilt from a photograph or picture. Cost $120 for both days.
Saturday 16 October Foundation Piecing with Wendy Saclier – This traditional technique for piecing blocks ensures accuracy and precision in your quiltmaking. This technique is ideal for unusual or interesting shaped piecing and is a favourite technique of Wendy’s. Cost $60
