New Season Ranges Starting to Arrive

The first of our new season ranges are starting to reach to store, and the trickle will become a flood in the next few weeks and months. Check out the new fabrics as they arrive on our New Ranges page. Here are a sample of our fabulous new red, white and black range. and a quirky pear range - great for clothing and bags as well as quilts.
Yes We do plan to have a mid-year sale
Well. we have ordered a large number of new patchwork and dress ranges for delivery over the next few months and we will need to clear some space for them. So we will be having a mid-year sale and the e-mails will go out in late June with the details. We will continue our recent tradition and not advertise the sale in the press. We would prefer to give our regular customers the benefit of the bargains. So keep an eye on your e-mails towards the end of the month and join us for what is always a fun day ( if a little hectic at times!).
Back From Pittsburgh
We are now back from Pittsburgh and have been using all our samples and bits and pieces to work out all the new ranges we will be ordering. We have already committed to some and expect the first deliveries ( the new Kaffe Fassett, Brendan Mably and Phillip Jacobs ranges) in the next few weeks. We were pleased at Pittsburgh to see many of the big fabric companies offering bright and cheerful new ranges - the perfect antidote to our winter and economic blues - and also right up our alley at Addicted To Fabric where we love the brighter styles. The picture montage above and below give you a flavour of some of the offerings at the Quilt Market.
So Much To Choose From at Pittsburgh

Quilt Market opened today and we have to choose from a huge range of new fabrics from our regular favourite designers and some new faces. We have already acquired a big range of samples as shown on the left. Our problem is how to get them all back to Australia! Market gives us a chance to talk to the designers about their ranges. At right, Jenny talks to Valori Wells about her new range from Westminster Fabrics. We will have some more photos to give you a flavour of the show soon.
Spring Market In Pittsburgh

We are in Pittsburgh for the Spring Quilt Market - where we look at all the new fabric ranges and toys for quilters. We were able to catch up with Amy Butler who has just released a cd of her projects including bags, quilts and home decor. Kaffe Fassett and Brandon Mably were also showing the exciting fabrics in their new ranges - we will have them in store in June. More to come as the market officially opens today- Friday 15th May in Pittsburgh.
Three New Kits Released
Three new kits - Arcadia, Lattice and Paisley have been added to our kits page. They use very modern colours that combine with very easy piecing techniques for a quick and impressive result. It is just as well that we have finished some new kits as many of the recent kits have sold out over Easter and the School holidays. We will leave the sold out photos up for a few days as some customers use the pictures for fabric selection. They are marked as sold out or one left as appropriate. We are sorry if one you were looking at is gone - we only make a limited number of each and some only last a couple of days!
Sue Spargo Workshop
We have just had Sue Spargo running a workshop in the store for some very lucky participants. We were all impressed with the rich colours and wonderful texture of the wool applique and embellishment techniques taught by Sue. Sue is a very inspiring teacher and was wonderfully generous with her knowledge. Contact us if you would be interested in a future wool embroidery or applique workshops. Talk to Sue's workshop participants if you need inspiration.
First Beginners Course For 2009 Wraps Up
Our first course for 2009 finished recently with the students all returning with their completed quilts. As always, we marvel at how much Wendy teaches in a few short sessions and the variety, quality and colour in these first quilts. Well done everyone. A small sample of the quilts is shown above. The next beginners course commences on 28 April.
Simple Project Ideas

We have had a lot of younger, new sewers looking for fresh and simple projects that have that personal touch. Just the antidote for the mass-produced products in the shops. We have assembled some great ideas for you including bags, soft toys, simple skirts, childrens clothes and many more.
Our new patchwork ranges and hand-printed cottons from Australian designers can be combined with the latest trends in simple-to-make patterns from up and coming designers - both from Australia and overseas.
We also feature some innovative new books containing a range of quirky projects. You can combine a few simple projects to make a stunning gift - a combination of an Amy Butler nappy bag and Melly and Me soft toy in the new fabrics makes a fantastic and individual gift for your next baby shower.
Award Winning Quilt
Congratulations to Helen for her win for Hand Applique in the Dalgety/Cooma Show. She brought the quilt in to show us recently and we were all very impressed with this lovely quilt.
The quilt uses fabrics from our store and we think Helen has combined them all beautifully.

See here for details on the workshop. One of our customers bought the pattern on the first day we had it and wore it in the next day. Our staff have the bug as well. It is a great way to use some of the wonderful colours in our patchwork cottons and we have some fantastic kids clothes made up as well to show you.
Our Birthday Sale
We had a huge three day sale to celebrate our birthday and Christmas. Our special day for our regular customers was Friday 5th of December and we were flat out with nearly all our staff on duty for the day to keep up. We served over 500 customers on the day and we hope you all found a bargain or two. Thanks for your patience if you hit a really busy time (most of the day!) and had to wait in line for a while. I am sure you would agree the girls could not have cut any faster.

We did not advertise the sale to the public - only to our bagladies and to Canberra and Queanbeyan Quilters. With the response we had we will continue to run our sales this way. Those of you who support us throughout the year deserve to get the best deals. So if you did not receive your e-mail, don't forget to register here
